NECA MISSION STATEMENT:
The New England Cichlid Association (NECA) provides a variety of services to Cichlid enthusiasts as well as aquarists interested in other classes of fish. With a specialty focus on Cichlids from all over the globe, the NECA looks to promote education, interest, husbandry, collection, and study of Cichlids and other aquarium fishes. From international conferences to home meetings, importation of new and hard to obtain species, support of the CARES effort, and hosting of special events, we provide many services to our membership to promote the aquarium hobby.
Welcome to the website for the New England Cichlid Association (NECA), a cichlid hobbyist and conservation group active in the New England area. NECA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit educational organization.
Members of the NECA enjoy fish, particularly cichlids, and are constantly learning more about cichlids and their care. In addition, the NECA is active in conservation efforts to protect cichlids in their natural habitats and to boost populations of endangered cichlid species through responsible fishkeeping, breeding, and dissemination of these species among other conscientious hobbyists.
Membership in the NECA grants you the opportunity to be part of this friendly and passionate group. We hold regular club meetings and speaker events, as well as two large annual auctions, smaller special event sales and swaps, and opportunities for group buys from some of the best cichlid vendors in the business.
