    Aequidens sp. "Atabapo"

    in Livestock

F-1 juveniles, approximately 1"; $20.00 ea or six for $100.00

Very rare and unusual South American Aequidens species from Atabapo region of Venezuela. These grow moderately large like other Aequidens types but this one is a delayed, bi-custodial mouth-brooder more akin to Burjurquina species. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised in it ends up as a described Burjurquina species eventually. They are placid and peaceful. I have three wild, breeding pairs in a 70 gallon tank.

The first picture is parent in brooding dress (fry on gravel in lower right). One of the pictures is more recent but the flash on the camera washes out the subtle aquamarine scales on the foreheads and shoulders. The 2nd & 3rd pictures are of some of the parents when they were much younger.

Some shipping options available. Can combine with other local NECA members for shipping options.
